Thankyou...

...Anonymous. (Did you really think borrowing a friend's child to write the address so I didn't immediately recognize your handwriting would fool the great detective? Who's did you borrow, by the way?) And just how many Sydneysiders do you think I know who read my blog? ;) Oops! See, we know who you are & where you live...Bmwhahaha.

Just how timely your encouragement & blessing is follows. (Huge thankyou from Ditz BTW, who was quite concerned about mummy by the end of yesterday evening.)

You see yesterday was orientation evening for choir ~ only we're not allowed to call it choir; it's an ensemble! I'm not sure wherein the distinction lies but anyway. (Perhaps someone around here can enlighten me...?) It is rather a rare ensemble, or so I'm told, consisting of two part soprano, 2 part alto/tenor. I'm so ignorant it's actually too shocking to go into. Ditz is a high soprano with a good lower range. Gosh, I hope that makes sense!

Anyways...They went over all the stuff they sent out in the e~mails, which I actually read & which caused the origonal meltdown. I think I am going to be in permanent meltdown with this wretched activity. They told us about the first engagement ~ backup vocals for the Ten Tenors. I don't even know if anyone outside of Oz knows the Ten Tenors, or if you don't if you should. Believe me, it's HUGE! Plus they will do them twice more ~dates yet to be determined.

We go over all the hidden costs (please, someone laugh, my niavity is killing me!) & then they drop the bombshell. (You mean it gets worse? I do indeed!) All this year is going to be preparation for next year. Next year they do their European Tour!!! Ditz practicaly had to scrape me up off the floor! I reeled home in a state of shock. Good Lord, what are you doing to me?!

The Money Man (alias Dearest) remained calm & unfazed, so calm & unfazed he was talking about having enough to send me with Ditz!!! How I should dearly love to go back to Europe & see London, Berlin, Venice with the Ditzy one! Bliss beyond imaginging. Chronic history moron here. Culture Vulture extraordinaire. Watch out Olive! As the mother of many myself your sheer numbers do not faze me! Bring the kids. Hear Ditz sing!

Lord Peter Wimsy says, in Busman's Holiday, (only he was describing his honeymoon) something along the lines of the whole experience left him with ''the sensation of being slightly drunk & tossed in a blanket.'' That about sums it up pretty well. Meanwhile my sons are bragging on their sister to anyone who will listen. It's nice that rather than being jealous of her good fortune they want to celebrate with her. I, on the other hand, am feeling distinctly seasick.

The friend's child is a colleague who must be in her late 20's, judging from the age of her children. Perhaps she borrowed the handwriting from one of them :-)

I want an invite to her first performance at the Opera House, BTW :-)

This is SO incredibly exciting for all of you! I'm sure once the dust settles down, it might be a little easier to process. You must be really proud of her and her accomplishments thus far! What an incredible opportunity for her to use her gift!

Anon, my dear, you have heard the child hit the high G; are you sure you still want those tickets? I'm certain Ditz will be more than thrilled to oblige!

Connie, It is a little overwhelming
just now simply because I hadn't realized just how highly regarded this ensemble is. They won last year's Nationals & this is the 'showpiece' ensemble. I did, however, take great pleasure in telling my mother (who is a big fan of TTT) just who her noisy little grand~daughter was singing back up vocals for!

Oh I think I would have a hard time thinking straight! Europe? I would absolutely love to go. My husband doesn't have any desire to travel anywhere where he has to take a plane. (Sigh)

Thank you for sharing my joy, ladies. It's done to sheer hard work as from next week but I have a sneaking suspicion that this is work Ditz won't be complaining about.

I'm a little late chiming in, but how wonderfully exciting!

Aren't you glad you decided to go with the music rather than try to get Ditz into a quiet, studious mold?

I would love to see you if you get to come my way; just remember you asked for it!
