Lemons & Kidney Beans.

We have been picking lemons ~ like this! They are huge, the size of grapefruit & lovely & juicy, not all thick skin & pith. Lovely after a hot game of soccer. We are out of lemon/lime butter (doesn't take long in this house) so we are off to buy some proper butter so we can make some more. Liddy has cravings...

And this is Ditz's body ~ complete with *parts*. She didn't mind the bones but the intestines rather grossed her out. Good thing it's not in techni~colour ~ & we're not adding any either! I must admit this was plenty of fun to make & the way we prefer to learn but there is a reason I took literature & drama at Uni ~ um, no, I don't do *insides* either, which means I made Ditz do it all to anguished, 'Ooh, that's gross/nasty/feral'. Then I had to tell her, yes it's true her kidneys look like beans (there's a reason for the term kidney bean). She may never eat baked beans again.

Whoah - you've got lemons on steroids! LOL ...wow, I've never seen a lemon like that. Of course, I've only ever seen lemons in the grocery store, so... hey do you make lemonade? lemon meringue pie?

Awesome human body! Miss Cinders is still sleeping but I'm gonna show her when she gets up... hmmm, are there a lot of crafty things in that program? I peeked at the demos on christianbook.com but they don't show much... We have a few potential science things for next year, but I'm not sure what we're going to use... we did Apologia's Astronomy this year, and we own the Flying Creatures (same) - but Cindy said she wasn't really all that keen on having "one" topic for the year ..she did like it, but it got "kinda boring" ...she says she wants something with more variety...Flying creatures has variety in terms of birds, bats, insects, but it's still all one, if that makes sense.... I have a few older abeka science books here (texts anyway) that we could draw from, but eh... hmmm. Maybe I'll go poke into this one a bit more. Wish there were more sample/demo pages on cbd -- it shows the topics well, but I want to see the project-y things, like your human body...

/babble/ LOL

Lol. Lemon Meringue Pie, tarts, lemon butter but not lemonade.

OK, I'll try & post some more pics of what we've done. It's got a pretty good variety; great flower thingy to put together ~ some flower pressing, comic books to make. I've probably skipped the more academic stuff & lots of the repetition but this has been a fun curriculum.

That is some lemon! Looks more like an ugli fruit; I've never seen a lemon that big.

Cool body. Taryn would love to do her work all crafts, too, but we aren't as accommodating as you are.

Unfortunately mamaO, Ditz & I are tarred with the same brush; we both love the crafty stuff & are less keen on pure sciences. We will happily write creatively but bulk at facts. Unfortunately for us we do have to do plenty of the other stuff as well but I know Ditz will remember this long after she's forgotten the more traditional approach stuff. We have issues...*sigh*

Wow those are in your yard??? you must drink lots of lemonade. Ok I'm sure you have heard of that before.
My boys did a Human Body unit and they made something very similar and loved it. Just goes to show you how different boys and girls are. They love gross stuff.

Hmm, I don't know if I'd call it "accommodating" --- I think it's more "working with your child's learning styles" ...finding what works best and running with it. :-)

man-o-man, now that's what i call a lemon! i didn't even know they grew that large... no wonder you guys are making so much lemon butter (a recipe i will have to try myself someday)

the paper ditz looks great. you know, i actually have that curriculum around the house. it's been set aside for when noah was ready for it. i'm thinking maybe we'll do it next year:)
